FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHEN IS THE WWK LEAGUE SEASON?
WWK’s league season runs from January until April. The deadline for registering for the next league season is October 31st. Unfortunately, we are not able to accept any new throwers between November 1st and December 31st.
HOW DO I START MY OWN TEAM?
If you have a group of 3 interested friends or more and a place to throw, you can start a team. Start by filling out the “New Member Application” on this website under the “How To Join” tab.
WHAT IS THE COST TO JOIN?
WWK league dues are intended to be very low and we rely heavily on our sponsors to make sure we keep them that way. WWK would rather our members spend their money on a good set of throwing knives to ensure they’re throwing with good, safe equipment that will help build your confidence with higher scores. For the 2023 Season, league dues are $60 per member.
I’M UNDER AGE 18. CAN I STILL JOIN WWK?
Due to the inherent risk of knife throwing, league members must be at least 18 years of age to join. However, there is one exception. If your parent or legal guardian is in the league and on the same team as you, we allow you to join.
HOW MUCH SPACE IS NEEDED FOR A LEAGUE SETUP?
WWK recommends a space that is at least 10’ wide by 20’ long with at least an 8’ ceiling height. A larger space is ideal, but this would be a minimum suggestion.
WHERE SHOULD I GO TO BUY GOOD THROWING KNIVES?
WWK highly suggests staying away from production knives. Most production knives can have sharp edges or break easily and pose a safety risk. We recommend custom knives made by experienced knife makers who support the knife throwing community. Please see our list of recommended throwing knives on the “Resources” Tab of our website.
I’M INTERESTED IN SPONSORING WWK? HOW DO I GET MORE INFORMATION?
WWK has sponsorships available for each league season, as well as for the year-end competition, the Battle of the Blade Maidens, with varying levels of support requested. Please reach out to us via email at wwkfundraising@gmail.com for more information.
IS WWK JUST FOR WOMEN OR CAN MEN JOIN?
WWK is a women-only league. It is set up for the purpose of giving women a safe, non-intimidating environment to learn how to throw knives and bond with the sisterhood of other women knife throwers. Men can reach out to MBT Range in Holland, MI for information on men's throwing events.
