Empowering Women Through Knife Throwing Since 2015!
At WWK, we empower women by teaching the art of knife throwing, building confidence and strength along the way. Whether you're aiming to compete in sanctioned events or just want to unleash your inner badass while connecting with a supportive community of amazing women, WWK is the place to be! Join us, learn new skills, and discover how addictive the thrill of throwing knives can be.
Who We Are
Founded in West Michigan, WWK is an all-female knife-throwing league that welcomes women from all walks of life. Our members include teachers, nurses, small business owners, corporate executives, stay-at-home moms, retirees, and more! Women of all ages, ethnicities, fitness levels, abilities, and disabilities join WWK to escape the stresses of daily life, unleash their inner warriors, build confidence, and forge lasting friendships. Every thrower takes on an alias, which is printed on league T-shirts, adding an element of fun and freedom to the experience.
What We Do
The Throw
WWK throwers compete primarily against themselves to promote personal growth, though we work together in teams of 4 or more women. A team can include throwers at different skill levels—Intermediate, Advanced, and Pro. A league throw consists of four sets of throws from four distances: 2 meters, 3 meters, 4 meters, and 5 meters. Official league throws happen six times throughout the season.
What We Throw
Our primary style is Rotational Throwing, using specially balanced knives with defined parameters for length and weight. These knives are blunt-edged, with only a sharp point. In addition to rotational throws, we explore other techniques at events, including no-spin throws, speed throws, fast draws, and even tomahawk throwing.

The Target
Knives are thrown at softwood rounds, either octagonal or round in shape, or end-cut targets made from lumber. Each target includes scoring rings that follow standard rules: the center ring earns 5 points, and the value decreases by 1 point for each outer ring down to the outside ring, which is worth 1 point.
How It Works
Our season sign-ups take place from October through the first week of November, with the season running from January 1st to April 30th. The season concludes with a league-wide tournament in June. Each thrower joins a local team, and teams meet six times during the season for official league scores. Teams also arrange their own practice and scoring days based on what works best for their members. We encourage fun themes and activities to keep practices engaging!
To support new throwers, WWK has a dedicated mentoring team that can visit your group to provide tips and encouragement. We also have a traveling knife bag filled with various implements, so members can try out different knives before investing in their own set.
WWK is more than just a league—it's a supportive, empowering community where women can grow, connect, and have fun.
